Beautiful Japanese Spring folk song "Sakura"

"Sakura", is a traditional Japanese folk song depicting spring, the season of cherry blossoms:
Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms,
In fields and villages
As far as you can see.
Is it a mist, or clouds?
Fragrant in the morning sun.
Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms,
Flowers in full bloom.
Cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms,
Across the spring sky,
As far as you can see.
Is it a mist, or clouds?
Fragrant in the air.
Come now, come now,
Let's look, at last!

Contrary to popular belief, the song did not originate in ancient times; it was a popular, urban melody of the Edo period and was adopted as a piece for beginning koto students in the Tokyo Academy of Music Collection of Japanese Koto Music issued in 1888 (in English) by the Department of Education.[1] The song has been popular since the Meiji period, and the lyrics in their present form were attached then. It is often sung in international settings as a song representative of Japan.

First Ume plum blossoms began to bloom in Japan. Lets meet and greet the spring!
Pražydo pirmieji slyvų žiedai žymintys pavasario pradžią Japonijoje!

Spring is shining with first blossoms - Ume. Ume (Prunus mume), or which are commonly known as Japanese apricots or Chinese plums are widely cultivated around the country. Following plum, soon season of cherry blossoms is going to arrive.
Baigiantis žiemai Japonijoje savo žiedus pradeda skleisti japoniškos slyvos. Jomis japonai gali grožėtis truputėlį anksčiau nei sakurų žydėjimu, Mirkant slyvas alkoholyje taip pat gaminamas japoniškas alkoholinis gėrimas - slyvų vynas (jap. umeshu).

Nowadays, Japanese people prefer cherry blossoms to Ume blossoms but in ancient times in the Nara period (710‐794), we were Ume lovers and really appreciated the beauty and scent of Ume blossoms. They have been depicted in Japanese art repeatedly and have been an important motif in Japanese classic poetry. In addition, many traditional family emblems have a variety of Ume designs.

Fuyuko Matsui - female Japanese artist, specializing in Nihonga illustrative paintings with a 'grotesque' or supernatural element

Despite its often shocking aspects, her art is part of the tradition of Japanese art going back centuries. For example, her painting "Insane Woman under the Cherry Tree" (2006) is inspired by "Ogress under Willow Tree,” a painting by Soga Shohhaku (1730–1781), the iconoclastic Edo-period painter, who was influenced by the art of the Muromachi Era painter Soga Jasoku (d. 1483). http://www.matsuifuyuko.com/
